So, you’ve reached Zeacology: Natural History Notes from a New Zealand Newbie. Hello! The title sums up the purpose of this blog pretty well: I’m from the US, trained in human ecology (whatever that means), and I’m embarking on a year of travel and study in New Zealand. I’m hoping to use this blog to post what I’m seeing and learning while I’m here. Over the course of the year, I hope this becomes a catch-all drawer for bits and pieces of the natural world, a conglomerate of observations and questions, a flock of flying thoughts…and plenty of metaphors (maybe too many!) just for the fun of it.
Soon this site will be active with natural history notes and wonderings…but until then enjoy this photo of a sheep contemplating the void at the Otago Peninsula.
Until next time–
